California Highway Patrol responded to a head-on crash on Highway 135 just north of the State Route 1 intersection near Orcutt.
According to CHP, a two vehicle traffic collision happened at around 9:42 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Hwy 135.
CHP said the crash occurred when a male driver in a Chevrolet Aveo was traveling northbound in the southbound number one lane at the same time another male driver in a Toyota Highlander was traveling southbound in the number one lane.
The driver of the Avelo was driving in the wrong direction ultimately causing a head-on collision with the driver of the Highlander, according to CHP. The crash resulted in both the drivers suffering minor injuries and being transported to Marian Regional Medical Center.
CHP identified the male driver as Fidel Ortiz-Pausano, 26, of Santa Maria. CHP said Ortiz-Pausano was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury.
