The religious community is helping feed foster children during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Churches of all denominations partnered together and set up a distribution site at Grace Bible Church in Arroyo Grande Sunday to hand out Thanksgiving meals to local foster or resource families.
Volunteers also donated $50 gift cards to the grocery store and boxes of food from Salvation Army to the families who stopped by.
Kathy Curtis, a volunteer at Grace Bible Church, said every church member at the event hoped to show their appreciation for local families who are providing for foster children.
"We can't change the world, but we can make a difference one by one, and we're going through historic times right now with the pandemic and it's the little things in life," Curtis said. "If we can make someone's life easier and put a smile on their face and help these foster families get through these difficult times, that's what we're here to do."
Curtis said about 70 foster families, or almost 300 children and adults, showed up to the drive-by donation event.
