The City of San Luis Obispo is inviting local artists to apply for some new street painting projects.

The public art projects will include the installation of painted murals within bulbouts at select intersections, painting the tops of the median diverters on Morro Street, and a mural on the Pismo Street k-rail.

According to the city, the artwork should reflect the character of each neighborhood while providing a visual cue to drivers that the corridors prioritize bicycle and pedestrian travel.

To be eligible to apply, artists must live in San Luis Obispo County. Click here for complete rules and link to an application.

The chosen artists will receive up to $6,000, depending on the project, to complete their work.

Residents who would like to join the Art Jury and help select the artists and their projects may contact Lindsey Stephenson at lstephen@slocity.org.
