Valentine's Day is around the corner and the Santa Maria Recreation and Parks department is helping local families celebrate safely.

City staff are offering two drive-in, family-friendly Valentine's Day bingo games.

The first game took place Saturday morning at the Elwin Mussell Senior Center and was offered to people of all ages.

Children five years old and over received a bingo card and had the chance to win sweet prizes.

A family we spoke with says it's a safe and fun way to get outside of the house during the pandemic.

"I have her on the weekends because of the situation with her mother working during [the pandemic], so [this] gives us something to do besides taking the dog for a walk or watching TV or doing her homework," said Lori Vitiello.

The Recreation and Parks Department is hosting another Valentine's Day bingo event for community members aged 50 and over on Friday at 10 a.m.
