Closing arguments took place Thursday in the jury trial for a former Lyft driver from Lompoc charged with sexually assaulting a passenger.

This comes after opening statements in the case against Jason Lamont Fenwick began more than two weeks ago in San Luis Obispo County Superior Court.

The 52-year-old was arrested last November, shortly after a woman says she was drunk when Fenwick drove her to her Nipomo home and sexually assaulted her.

Fenwick’s attorney argues the incident, which was reportedly captured on home surveillance cameras and shown during the trial, was not assault.

Fenwick has been in custody at the San Luis Obispo County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bail since Nov. 8, 2018, according to jail logs.
