As hundreds of tourists and locals head to central coast beaches to cool off this Labor Day weekend, one local business is picking up trash Sunday morning at Avila Beach.

Staff from The Greener CBD, a shop based in Grover Beach, and other community volunteers helped clean up the Avila Dog Beach from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

"We just hope that people would be a little more considerate sometimes, but it's been nice today, so it hasn't been bad at all," said Jeremiah Schoenfeldt, owner of The Greener CBD. "We're pleasantly surprised."

Schoenfeldt said several people dining at the Spyglass Inn Restaurant also stopped by to assist cleanup efforts and hand out supplies.

According to the event's Facebook page, staff provided coffee, donuts and biodegradable bags and gloves to attendees.

Volunteers also had the opportunity to enter a free raffle from The Greener CBD for a chance to win a month's worth of CBD gummies.

Schoenfeldt said he plans to host another cleanup Monday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Pismo Beach.
