UPDATE: Containment grows on fire at California Solar Farm in Santa Margarita

UPDATE (Monday, 1:25 p.m.) - Cal Fire officials have revised their estimates on the Helios Fire.

According to fire officials the fire has burned 38 acres and is 90% contained as of Monday afternoon.

UPDATE ( Monday, 7:24 a.m.) - According to San Luis Obispo County Fire, forward progress on the fire was stopped overnight, with many resources having already been released.

Fire officials originally said around 170 acres burned.

At last check, it was 40 percent contained, but that was expected to increase Monday once crews could see control lines in the daylight.

ORIGINAL STORY: Fire crews are currently responding to a vegetation fire at California Solar Farm in Santa Margarita, first reported before 9 p.m. on Sunday.

According to Cal Fire, the Helios Fire was last reported to be holding at 170 acres, with firefighters making good progress and fire activity. Crews will be working overnight to ensure complete containment.

The cause of the fire remains unknown. We will share updates as they become available.
