ORIGINAL STORY: Drivers are being advised to avoid Highway 41 between Morro Bay and Atascadero due to a crash Wednesday morning.
It was reported at around 7 a.m. off the northbound lanes just north of Toro Creek Road. Shortly before 9:30 a.m., the highway remained closed.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle went off the road, down an embankment, and crashed into a tree. Major delays were expected in the area.
Drivers were being encouraged to take Highway 46 or Highway 101 as alternate routes.
No word on the extent of any injuries.
