UPDATE (4:20 p.m.) - The California Highway Patrol reports that the scene of Thursday morning's crash has been cleared and all lanes of Highway 46 are now open.

(9:24 a.m.) - A crash in the Shandon area is expected to back up traffic for hours Thursday morning along Highway 46.
It happened at about 7:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes near Lucy Brown Road and involved a semi-truck and tow truck, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Only minor injuries were reported; however, CHP says the back wheels were ripped off of the big rig and its trailer and truck are blocking the eastbound lanes.
Officers are escorting traffic through the area until at least noon and possibly until 2 p.m. or later while crews work to remove the big rig.
No other information was immediately available.
