Crews contain burst fire hydrant in San Luis Obispo

San Luis Obispo City Fire worked to shut down a sheared fire hydrant in front of Rite Aid on Johnson Avenue Monday.

Reports came in at about 9:30 a.m. of the burst hydrant. The San Luis Obispo Police Department shut down adjacent traffic while crews worked to shut the water off.

Within 10 minutes, crews shut off the hydrant and reopened Johnson Avenue.

The public is being asked to use caution in the area.

There is no word yet on what may have caused the fire hydrant to burst.
