Santa Barbara County firefighters made progress on a prescribed training burn in the Santa Ynez Valley Wednesday.
86 acres are expected to be burned over two days.
Burning is expected to finish at 6 p.m. both days.
The goal of the burn is to provide live fire training for the certification of instructors to teach the use of fire to fight wildfires and manage prescribed burns.
The burn is being done is coordination with local Air Pollution Control Districts to monitor air quality. Officials will reschedule the second burn day if air quality is not ideal.
