Smoke may be visible in the Cayucos area this week as firefighters work to burn dozens of debris piles in the coastal town.
The burning will take place north of Old Creek Road above Richard Avenue beginning Tuesday.
CAL FIRE says the burning is in response to concerns brought up by residents about the potential fire hazard dead pines along the hillside have created.
Most of the dead trees have been cut and put into piles, which will be burned for up to three days this week.
CAL FIRE says crews will work to minimize potential overnight smoke impacts and if weather conditions are not right, the burning will be rescheduled.
