A data breach affected some Lucia Mar Unified School District employees this month.
District officials say an internal email sent out Oct. 9 contained an attachment with a "limited number" of employee names and Social Security numbers.
The mistake was caught about 15 minutes later, officials say, adding "Our Information Technology Services staff immediately disabled all employee email accounts to prevent further distribution of the information. The confidential data was then wiped from the district's servers."
The district says all staff were notified and given guidance on the situation and the impacted employees were provided with free fraud protection and identity monitoring services.
No other information was released.
