Deputies search for armed robbery suspect in Buellton

(UPDATE) - The suspect, who was armed with a handgun, was last seen wearing a black brimmed baseball hat, Columbia brand hooded sweatshirt and dark shorts, fled the area prior to deputies’ arrival and was last seen northbound on foot behind the business.

Residents were asked to shelter in place as K9 Units searched the area on the ground with an Air Support Unit overhead. Deputies have since lifted the shelter in place.

The investigation is ongoing, anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office at (805) 681-4100.

Community asked to call 911 and not approach the suspect because they are considered dangerous.

ORIGINAL STORY: Deputies with the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office are searching for an armed robbery suspect in Buellton.

Deputies say the robbery happened on the 400-block of Avenue of the Flags in Buellton at around 5:50 p.m. Thursday.

Anyone in the area should be aware as the suspect is outstanding.
