Direct Relief supplying needed medical equipment to hospitals

Direct Relief International in Goleta is helping to equip local hospitals and beyond with the needed medical supplies during the coronavirus crisis.

The nonprofit has delivered hundreds of thousands of N95 masks to local hospitals this week.

DRI is donating its stock of medical equipment locally in addition to distributing supplies across California.

President and CEO of DRI Thomas Tighe says the organization has been doing more deliveries than it has ever done in 72 years of operating.

"We've been able to deliver close to half-a-million masks to Cottage Hospital, to Marian Medical Center, to Lompoc Medical Center over the past day; so that's much needed," Tighe said. "I think a lot of the concern is about the availability of PPE for the clinicians and everyone in the health setting so they can continue to do their regular job."

Direct Relief Int. works with medical centers throughout the United States and worldwide.
