With rain in the forecast, San Luis Obispo's 40 Prado Warming Center is scheduled to open on Friday, Nov. 6.
The warming center, which is located at 40 Prado Road, will be open for client check-in from 7-9 p.m. It will close at 6 a.m. the next morning.
Those needing shelter will receive a place to sleep and a hot meal. Anyone who leaves while the warming center is open will not be allowed to return that night.
Pets are allowed and smoking is allowed in the designated smoking area.
The 40 Prado Warming Center is asking for donations of the following items:
- Sleeping bags and blankets
- Large trash bags
- Disposable plates, bowls, cups, and utensils
- Coffee, tea, creamer, and sugar
- Breakfast bars
- Instant Noodle/Cup of Noodles
- Large backpacks
- New socks and warm gloves
- Rain gear, ponchos, and umbrellas

The warming center is activated whenever the weather is forecast to be 38 degrees or below and/or at least a 50% chance of rain.
