One person was extricated from a vehicle that crashed into a tree in the Santa Ynez Valley Thursday morning.
It happened shortly before 7 a.m. at Alamo Pintado and Adobe Canyon roads, between Solvang and Los Olivos, according to the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
Fire officials say the vehicle had significant damage, requiring the driver, the only person inside, needing to be pulled out by firefighters.
Due to the extent of his injuries, fire officials say he was transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital by helicopter.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the crash.
