No injuries were reported when a driver crashed onto the Santa Maria High School campus lawn Monday morning.

The Santa Maria Joint Union High School District says it happened at about 11 a.m. when a driver heading southbound on Broadway, south of Morrison, appears to have lost control.

The vehicle clipped a Santa Maria High sign and stopped near the administration building.

District officials say no staff were hurt and no students were on campus.

Police say the driver was also not injured and mistook the gas pedal for the brake.
