UPDATE (8/10/21) - Lompoc's Planning Division provided KSBY with a few more details about the coffee shop's development.

Mari Moreno, Lompoc's Permit Coordinator and Building Inspector, says that the Dutch Bros building permit has not yet been approved. The city expects the approval to happen in the next week or two.

She says that the developer hopes to break ground on the building the day the permit is issued.

When asked about bringing a new coffee shop to Lompoc, Moreno said she could only speak for herself, and not for the city as a whole.

"Driving by the existing coffee shops currently, there is always a healthy crowd of people at each location," Moreno said, noting chains and local businesses. "The construction of the Dutch Bros location will be just one additional place for our citizens to enjoy, as opposed to yet another vacant building on our main thoroughfare."

The old La Botte restaurant building, on W. H St., was demolished on July 19 and 20.

Construction is slated to begin this month on a new Dutch Bros Coffee in Lompoc.

Right now, there's just a dirt lot where the Italian restaurant La Botte used to be but by next year, residents should expect the second Dutch Bros location in Santa Barbara County.

A spokesperson for Dutch Bros says the new location will have a single-sided drive-up as well as a walk-up window.

A specific opening date has yet to be determined.
