Early morning shooting under investigation in Guadalupe

A shooting was reported in Guadalupe shortly after midnight on Wednesday morning.

It happened in the 900 block of Escalante Street.

According to the Guadalupe Police and Fire departments, a 20-year-old man was found with a gunshot wound and taken to a Santa Barbara hospital by helicopter.

He reportedly told police that someone got out of a dark-colored Dodge Charger, approached him and asked, "Where are you from?" The suspect then reportedly pulled out a shotgun and fired a single round.

Police say the victim was hit by birdshot in the upper right arm. His injuries are considered non-life threatening.

Police say several rounds from a 9mm weapon were also fired but there were no reports of additional victims or property damage.

Investigators have no suspects in custody at this time.
