La Honda STEAM Academy and the Lompoc Unified School District offices were placed on lockdown for a short time Thursday afternoon.
It started shortly before 2:15 p.m. and was lifted before 2:40 p.m.
School district officials say the lockdown was prompted by a request from the Lompoc Police Department.
Police say officers were attempting to arrest a man with a warrant in the 1000 block of North A Street. He initially refused to exit his vehicle so police say they requested the lockdown as a precaution.
The suspect was eventually taken into custody and the lockdown was lifted.
