Families gathered Saturday to celebrate local law enforcement at the the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office Family Day.
The event is organized by the sheriff's office, but hosts other agencies as well at the Madonna Meadows.
It gives old and young the opportunity to learn more about what first responders and law enforcement officals do on a day-to-day basis.
"We really want people to be comfortable around law enforcement and we want to know that the law enforcement is there for them," said Joe Schimandle, chairman of the Sheriff's Advisory Foundation. "So that is why we put this on. It's to be able to meld the two together."
Those in attendance were treated to a live bomb demonstration and got an up-close look at equipment used by first responders.
