Felony charges filed in fatal Harris Grade Rd. crash case

The Santa Barbara County District Attorney's Office has filed felony charges against a man accused of causing a deadly crash in Lompoc over the summer.

The crash happened Saturday, Aug. 22, shortly after 6:30 a.m. on Harris Grade Road, south of Burton Mesa Boulevard.

Benjamin Romayor, 68, of Lompoc was killed when the vehicle he was driving was struck head-on by another car.

The other driver was identified as Issac Valentino De Luna, 20, of Lompoc and arrested on suspicion of DUI. He is now being charged with gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, driving under the influence of alcohol causing injury, and driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08 percent or higher causing injury. It is also alleged that De Luna personally inflicted great bodily injury and that he was driving with a blood alcohol content over 0.15 percent.

De Luna is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday afternoon for his arraignment.
