The Santa Maria Fire Department responded to a fire that broke out behind the Big Lots store on S. Broadway in Santa Maria.
The fire was reported at around 8 p.m. on Sunday.
A large pile of cardboard boxes was burned, but firefighters say the building was not damaged.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
