Crews with Cal Fire San Luis Obispo County responded to the report of an animal rescue on Friday evening near Oats Peak in Montaña de Oro State Park.
Officials say a horse fell approximately 50 to 60 feet off the trail. Several local agencies helped rescuers get into the area to cut a safe path to the trail. The horse successfully walked back up the path.
According to Cal Fire, the rider and the horse were not injured, and rescuers then hiked approximately 5 miles out with them.
