Firefighters responded to a fire at a San Luis Obispo condo Thursday morning. It was reported shortly after 7 a.m. along the 2200 block of Exposition Drive.
At the scene, fire officials say crews located several compromised lithium-ion battery packs burning in the attached garage.
Officials say everyone inside the home got out safely. Utility crews, including San Luis Obispo City Water, assisted with securing the residence and shutting off the residential fire sprinklers.
A full assessment will be completed by city building inspectors to ensure the residence is safe to occupy before residents will be allowed back in.
San Luis Obispo Fire Department crews are still on-site with the San Luis Obispo County Regional Hazmat team to determine the proper course of action for stabilizing and disposing of the damaged battery packs.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
