The Santa Maria City Fire Department and Santa Barbara County Fire Department conducted a prescribed burn near the Santa Maria Airport on Thursday.
Approximately 47 acres of grass were burned.
The purpose of the burn was to mitigate any potential fire risk due to pyrotechnics at the upcoming Central Coast Airfest.
The Airfest will be held at the airport October 12-13.
