UPDATE (5:30 p.m.) - SLO County Fire and CAL Fire officials say they located a body at the site of a mobile home fire in Nipomo.

Firefighters responded to the structure fire at around 2:51 p.m. at the 1200 block of Hetrick Avenue.

Firefighters contained the fire to the home and the out-building and kept the fire from spreading to other structures.

Neighbors report that a male in his 70s lived at the home.

The fire investigator is working with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office to identify the body found inside the home.

CAL FIRE says a body has been discovered at the site of a mobile home fire in Nipomo.

Firefighters responded to reports of the fire around 2:50 p.m. Wednesday on the 1200 block of Hetrick Ave.

CAL FIRE officials say the mobile home was engulfed in flames when they arrived on scene.

Neighbors told firefighters that one person, who had not been seen in a while, was living inside the mobile home.

A search of the mobile home was done and CAL FIRE says one person was found dead inside.

Fire investigators and the sheriff’s office are on scene working to determine the cause and conduct a death investigation.

The person’s identity is not yet known or whether their death was caused by the fire.

Several engines from Santa Maria City Fire and Five Cities Fire Authority also responded and CAL FIRE says water tenders were dispatched due to fire hydrants not being nearby.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
