The Firestone Walker Brewing Co. in Paso Robles is now brewing most of their beers with the help of the sun.

The brewery installed a 9.5 acre solar array, offsetting the equivalent of more than 3,000 metric tons of carbon emissions per year.

David Walker, the co-founder of Firestone Walker Brewing Co., said they've been working on this project for about three years.

"We are a large brewery now so we need to be aware of our impact on the community that we live in ," Walker said.

The brewery's new solar installation also powers the equivalent of more than 500 average U.S. homes annually.
