An arrest has been made in connection with an Atascadero restaurant burglary and police say the suspect is a former employee.

Atascadero police responded to Sylvester’s Burgers on the 6400 block of El Camino Real Thursday morning after an employee told them someone had broken in Wednesday night and stolen a cash register, cash and other electronic items, according to police.

A witness reportedly told detectives they saw a former employee, identified as Sean Altman, 35, in the area the night before.

Police say detectives found two cash registers abandoned in Atascadero and tracked some of the other stolen items to Paso Robles.

Police say Altman was located in Paso Robles later day and they found evidence proving he had been in possession of some of the stolen property and sold it.

Altman was booked into the San Luis Obispo County Jail on burglary-related charges and remained in custody Friday afternoon in lieu of $50,000 bail, according to jail logs.

Police say they also arrested another person, identified as Candice Matthews, 28, of Paso Robles, during their investigation. She was reportedly booked for an out-of-state felony warrant.
