A small vegetation fire broke out Tuesday in the Santa Maria Riverbed.
CAL FIRE responded to the call for an area east of Highway 101 shortly after 1 p.m.
Forward progress was stopped after an estimated five acres burned.
No word on the cause.
Highway 101 remains open.
