Free Wi-Fi services will soon be available for all students in the Lompoc Unified School District.
District officials say installation could begin next week and will cover those in Lompoc and unincorporated areas of Mission Hills, Mesa Oaks and Vandenberg Village.
The project is expected to be complete by Thanksgiving.
“We are very excited to provide free Wi-Fi to our families. Unreliable internet service can add to the frustrations of distance learning. Having a stable, free service for all LUSD students is huge,” said Lompoc Unified Superintendent Trevor McDonald in a press release.
The district says it’s working with city officials to make sure the project does not interfere with emergency services in Lompoc.
Primo Energy, Lokket and ABM are working with the district on the project, which officials say is not contingent on distance learning, adding it “will be available to our students for many years to come.”
