French Hospital Medical Center in San Luis Obispo has received a $500,000 donation for its Beyond Health campaign.
The money will support the hospital's $130 million expansion project to add a new, four-story patient care tower.
The gift comes from Jim Sargen, a founding board member of the French Hospital Medical Center Foundation.

To recognize Sargen's generosity, the hospital will name its foundation office the "James P. Sargen Foundation Office."
With Sargen's donation, the hospital now has $110 million of its goal. Dignity Health has invested $100 million and the hospital has raised $10 million from private donors.
The hospital's expansion project is expected to be complete by early 2024.
