Gas leak causes businesses to evacuate in Goleta

At approximately 11:09 p.m. Monday, November 2nd, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department responded to reports of a gas leak on Calle Real and Kingston near a CVS in the city of Goleta.

Initially, one engine company reponded and reported a smell of natural gas in the area. Another engine was added, as well as a truck company and a battalion chief.

According to SBC Fire, it appears construction was going on in the area, but the source of the gas leak has not been located.

There are hard closures on Calle Real at Calle Real and Kingston Avenue, and Calle Real and Encina Road.

Businesses in the are have been evacuated, so far there are no reports of injuries.

Utility companies have been called to scene to stop the slow of natural gas.
