Girl, 17, injured in suspected gang-related drive-by shooting in Lompoc

A teenage girl was injured in a drive-by shooting in Lompoc Wednesday that's believed to be gang-related, according to police.

Lompoc police say it happened at about 3:12 p.m. on the 700 block of W. Walnut Avenue.

Officers say their investigation revealed a man driving a gray car "shouted disparaging comments regarding a local street gang" before firing one round at the victim.

The 17-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital. Officers say her injury is not life-threatening.

No other information is being released by police at this time.
