Graffiti of racial slur found at Grover Beach Elementary School

The Grover Beach Police Department is investigating vandalism at Grover Beach Elementary School that includes graffiti of a racial slur.

The graffiti was discovered Monday morning.

Police say the markings were both racist and sexual in nature and included an image of a hanging stick figure and at least one racial slur.

A representative from the Lucia Mar Unified School District said that the graffiti was reported to police and has since been covered up.

"We are shocked and saddened by the incident," said Amy Jacobs, school district spokesperson.
