Grover Beach hosting virtual tree lighting ceremony, decorating contest Friday night

The City of Grover Beach is hosting a virtual tree lighting ceremony Friday.

Community members can tune into the city’s Facebook livestream starting at 5:30 p.m.

Mayor Jeff Lee will be there with Santa and Ms. Claus.

The city is also hosting a virtual decorating contest.

Neighbors can nominate each other, themselves or a local business for the ‘Holiday of Lights’ competition.

The city is offering six awards for the best use of animation and or craftsmanship.

To enter or nominate someone, submit photos or video of the display to by Monday, Dec. 16.

Official judging starts Dec. 17.

Winners will be announced on the city’s Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Nextdoor accounts that same day.

"This holiday season is a reminder of our shared purpose in supporting one another as community members despite these challenging times,” said Grover Beach Mayor Jeff Lee.
