Allan Hancock College had its fourth annual Hancock Welcome event Tuesday, showing incoming students everything the college has to offer.
At Hancock Welcome new students and their parents were able to tour the campus, get their students id’s and learn about student clubs and organizations. Students also got to attend workshops about the importance of counseling, financial aid and transferring to a four-year university.
“Students that are connected to the college and engaged will be better in college if they get connected right away then they'll do best in their first semester in college,” Henry Schroff, student activities specialist at Allan Hancock College, said.
Last year, Allan Hancock College welcomes more than 1,000 students to the event.
This year 1,800 students were invited.
Allan Hancock College’s fall semester starts Aug. 19.
