A local landmark is being recognized as one of the World’s Great Places in 2019 by Time Magazine.
The publication lists Hearst Castle in San Simeon as one of the Greatest Places to visit among dozens of others around the world.
The magazine touches upon some of the highlights of the grand estate, including its theater room, billiard room, beauty salon and its iconic swimming pools. The list specifically notices the Neptune Pool, which has been featured in several media moments throughout the decades.
Another point Time acknowledges about the Castle is that it will celebrate its centennial anniversary next year.
It is the only destination from the Central Coast being showcased in the piece.
Other places honored within California include Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland in Anaheim as a place to visit, the Arts District Firehouse Hotel in Los Angeles for places to stay and Nyum Bai in Oakland as a place to eat and drink.
Time selects the 100 places for its annual list by evaluating locations and their key factors, including quality, originality, sustainability, innovation and influence.
