Emergency crews are working to rescue a hiker who fell off a 20-foot cliff in the Los Padres National Forest.

Around 7:50 p.m. Sunday, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department received reports of an injured hiker who got lost and fell off a cliff near Lizards Mouth Rock west of Camino Cielo.

Emergency crews have located the hiker and are working to access and take the patient to safety either by carrying the hiker out or staging a rope rescue.

The hiker has a lower extremity injury, according to officials.

A Santa Barbara County Fire Department Battalion Chief, two engines companies as well as the search and rescue team from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene.
