Hit-and-run leaves motorcyclist injured near Los Osos

UPDATE (10 p.m.) - CHP says the vehicle involved in Saturday's collision near Los Osos was described as a charcoal gray-colored Jeep SUV and based on evidence left at the scene, is likely a 2005 or 2006 Grand Cherokee.

The collision left the Jeep with damage to its left rear bumper and the left rear taillight missing.

The motorcyclist, identified as a 57-year-old man from Los Osos, suffered major injuries, according to CHP.

ORIGINAL STORY: The California Highway Patrol is currently investigating a collision that left a motorcyclist with minor injuries.

Officers say shortly before 5 p.m., the motorcyclist was on Turri Road near South Bay Boulevard while a gray Jeep was stopped in the shoulder.

As motorcyclist approached rear of Jeep, the driver of the Jeep pulled into traffic, according to officials.

Officers say that's when the motorcyclist hit Jeep and the Jeep fled the scene.

The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital.

Officers are currently looking for a gray Jeep, but the year and model type of the vehicle are unknown at this time.
