UPDATE (2:19 p.m.) - Santa Barbara police say Ernesto Gil Lopez has been arrested on suspicion of murder and a parole violation in connection with the deadly stabbing.
The victim's name has not been released.

ORIGINAL STORY: A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found with severe stab wounds in Santa Barbara Thursday night.
Santa Barbara police say officers responded to the area of Voluntario and Cacique streets after receiving reports of a man down at around 9:30 p.m.
Police say they found “major trauma” in the street but did not immediately find a victim.
After canvasing the area, police say the stabbing victim was found further down in the street.
The man was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries, according to police.
No arrests have been made.
Police say they interviewed several witnesses Thursday night and are still looking for any video surveillance that may help with the investigation.
The area remained blocked off Friday morning.
