(3:33 a.m.) - Nearly 500 Atascadero residents are without power Monday morning following a car struck a power pole and gas main.
Atascadero Fire & Emergency Services responded to a reported structure fire at 1:30am. Confirmed to be a vehicle off the road which caused a gas line break, fire & power lines down. Atascadero Fire Department responded to the scene after a vehicle crashed shortly before 1:30 a.m.
Firefighters extinguished a subsequent vegetation fire around the crash.
As of 3:30 a.m., PG&E reported 492 residents without power. It is expected to be restored by 5:15 a.m.
No word on the driver's condition or if any citations were issued by police. A call to a Atascadero police official has not yet been returned.
