Santa Maria Police say a juvenile was shot around 10:35 p.m. Monday during a verbal altercation with an adult family member.
According to police, sometime during the altercation, the adult suspect shot the juvenile outside the home on the 900 Block of W. Williams Street.
After shooting the juvenile, the adult reportedly turned the gun on his or herself.
Both people were transported to the hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
Santa Maria police and fire officials both responded to the incident.
No names or ages were released and the extent of the injuries is unknown.
