The Kiwanis Club of Atascadero donated nearly $8,000 to the Tolosa Children's Dental Center in Paso Robles Thursday.
The Kiwanis Club's annual Winemaker's Dinner, held on June 21, raised money to support five local nonprofit organizations, including the dental care provider.
The community service organization selected the dental clinic as the recipient of $7,900 as it is the only nonprofit pediatric dental center in San Luis Obispo County.
According to Alexandra Chamberlain, the development director of the clinic, 99 percent of its patients are "enrolled in the state health program Denti-Cal."
Chamberlain said this generous donation will allow the center "to serve local underserved children in our community."
Ninety-five percent of Tolosa Children's Dental Center patients are at high risk for cavities.
The Tolosa Children's Dental Center offers pediatric dental care to underinsured children in need.
