On Monday, the 24th anniversary of the disappearance of Kristin Smart, community members held a cruise in Smart's memory.
A caravan of about 50 cars drove from The Village of Arroyo Grande to a Kristin Smart memorial at Dinosaur Caves Park in Pismo Beach. There people played music and spent time talking about the disappearance of Smart.
"Now we're able to take this lesson and go to college campuses and be more aware of our surroundings [...]," said Lauren Giesmann, an Arroyo Grande resident. Before Smart's disappearance, she was weeks away from finishing her freshman year at Cal Poly.
