After several years dancing across the country, a Los Osos native is returning to the central coast as a professional lead dancer for the Ballet Theatre San Luis Obispo.

According to Theresa Slobodnik, the artistic director for Ballet Theatre San Luis Obispo, Philip Northington will dance in the ballet "A Christmas Carol," which will showcase Dec. 13-15 at Spanos Theatre in San Luis Obispo.

Northington grew up in Los Osos, where he got his start in dance and voice training, Slobodnik said.

As a teenager, Northington danced for the Ballet Theatre San Luis Obispo, a newly-formed non-profit organization at the time. Since then, he has traveled across the nation dancing professionally for ballet companies and schools, including Ballet Magnificat in Mississippi and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York, Slobodnik said.

Community members can watch Northington take the stage at 7 p.m. on Dec. 13 or Dec. 14, as well as 2 p.m. on Dec. 15 at the Spanos Theatre in San Luis Obispo.

Tickets cost between $28 to $48. However, all seats on Dec. 13 will cost $33. All shows are reserved seating.
