A haven for veterans on the Central Coast is making more room to host vets in need.

La Casa de Flores is run by the Band of Brothers, a group that provides shelter for veterans and their families.

Their latest project turned a garage into a two-story home, which is now housing a family from Lompoc.

"She’s getting her degree in nursing and stuff. Her husband is a veteran. They have two children and it’s just remarkable to see that they will then go through, they'll use this home for what it is and then the next family will come in, and that’s what it’s all about,” said Band of Brothers President Steve Baird.

The Band of Brothers is a group of veterans helping other veterans.

The home for veterans is located at 400 West Church Street in downtown Santa Maria.
