Like a flu shot, people may soon get vaccinated without leaving their car.

Local first responders tested the idea out Thursday by holding a drive-thru flu shot clinic to test out how efficient the process would be.

If the covid vaccine is given out in a similar fashion, first responders are confident this is the beginning to the end.

"If you look in past history with smallpox and polio, we defeated those pandemics by vaccination and I'm excited that vaccinations are coming out and were going to have an end to this soon," Steve Knuckles, Morro Bay fire chief.

Morro bay firefighters gave out nearly 500 flu shots today.

Local first responders are asking for volunteers to help distribute the covid-19 vaccine once it arrives.
