Santa Barbara County health experts are warning the community about a text message hoax regarding the coronavirus.
School officials with the Santa Maria Joint Unified High School District notified police about the text that they say is circulating on social media.
SMJUHSD staff say the message states four cases of the coronavirus have been reported in Santa Barbara County, including two at Santa Maria High School.
County health officials say there are no confirmed cases in the county and no confirmed cases at SMHS.
Staff, parents and students have all been notified about the text hoax.
